Just before flying to London the U.S. Olympic Swimming Team held an open practice and interview session Thursday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Team USA is conducting their domestic training camp in Knoxville much like they did before the 1996 Games in Atlanta. USA Swimming opened the Thursday morning practice to spectators and media, and local residents responded with unprecedented attendance.
Fans started lining up before 5 a.m. for the 8 a.m. practice and filled Allan Jones Aquatic Center to its approximate 1,200 capacity for the hour session. Additional fans lined the outdoor pool across the street to watch additional Olympians in action.

The U.S. Olympic swim team has been in town practicing at University of Tennessee aquatic facilities since last week. Thursday, the public and media were allowed to attend practice and meet some of the athletes. In addition to home town favorites Claire Donnahue and Davis Tarwater were Missy Franklin, Michael Phelps and crowd favorite, Ryan Lochte.
